A little history...

The change of seasons, the cycles of life and nature, have long been recognized and honored. The Ancestors of both the Germanic and the Celtic cultures, the Proto-Indo-Europeans, have acknowledged the importance of the change of seasons during their High Festivals.

The Sun moves in cycles, too, in intensity. And during fall, the Sun is slowly travelling deep down into the Underworld, which is a deeply, and very ancient, pagan concept.

The Underworld is the realm of Ancestors, Death and Transformation. There is no evil here – but transformation of the old, of the ill, the seeds of new life are born right here. This is of importance to Samhain and the Day of the Dead that takes place in October in many cultures.

Early Irish manuscripts tell us about the mythological Aspects of the tradition known as Samhain. It is time to retreat, the end of harvest and celebrating harvest and hunting season, while nature and life itself will be going back to sleep.

The honoring of the change of seasons is ancient, and Neolithic cultures of Europe have already honored these cycles of nature. The traditional Jack o lanterns were actually carved out of turnips or gourds. The pumpkin itself doesn’t originate from Europe but was introduced by French explorer Jacques Cartier. The carving of the turnips or later on, pumpkins, was both a honoring of deceased Ancestors and a protective measure against the Underworld spirits that will soon roam the snowy and icy landscapes.

I was so pleased with my pumpkin Algiz ring! It was much more dainty than I expected. It’s the perfect size and modest, which is what I prefer. I loved the rune print we received. I plan on putting it in our homeschool corner.

My only advice (and this was my mistake) is to follow the recommendation given when ordering to NOT size up. I sized up a half size and the ring is a little loose. It still fits just looser than I would like, so stay true to your size!

I will definitely be ordering more from here 🙂

I saw this ring on the Wicked Griffin site and I just HAD to have it being a huge Halloween person! And I cannot be happier with my little pumpkin ring! The detail is amazing and it’s just the perfect size!!! I absolutely love this ring!!!!!

This was an impulse buy but I have no regrets. It’s way cuter in person. The pumpkin curves so it fits very nicely on your finger and lays flat. As per usual, this has a great level of detail, and the thin band is really comfortable. Looking forward to autumn now.

I love it! The only thing that would make it more “me” would be a bacon band! Sorry, I just spent about 3 minutes looking at how pretty my new pumpkin ring looks on my pinky finger. Very happy with my purchase.

An absolutely lovely celestial cat. The details are very fine; I’m impressed with how clearly the stars and moon stand out with this being the case. There are lots of good vibes in this ring and I plan on wearing it often.

Q: How long will my order take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order in my home studio. Please check the <current production time|https://thewickedgriffin.com/current-production-time/> before purchasing. Once shipped, US orders typically arrive within 3–5 business days.

Q: How do I care for my jewelry?
Sterling silver may develop a natural patina over time — polish gently with a soft cloth to restore shine. Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfume, and lotions. When not worn, store in a cool, dry place, ideally in a jewelry pouch or box.

Q: How does sizing work?
Ring sizes are listed for each product. If you're unsure of your size, please use the ring sizer available in the ring listing, it works perfectly when printed accurately. Ear cuffs are one-size and gently adjustable. Pendants come with your choice of chain length.

Basic Care

Base metals such as copper and brass can cause skin discoloration. Avoid water and excess moisture when wearing these metals.

Sterling silver may darken naturally over time. This is normal and can usually be brightened again by polishing gently with a soft cloth.

To help keep your jewelry looking its best, avoid prolonged contact with water, perfume, lotions, oils, and harsh cleaning products.

When not worn, store your piece in a cool, dry place, preferably in a jewelry box or pouch.

Each piece is made to order, so please check the current production time before purchasing.

These Alice in Wonderland rings are a perfect example. Every tiny detail in the Caterpillar scene and the Red Queen... engraved and soldered by hand, one piece at a time.

Protection has always been woven into my work. ⚡

The Helm of Awe (Aegishjalmur) was a Viking stave believed to make the wearer unconquerable. Warriors would carve it between their brows before battle... not as decoration, but as armor for the spirit.

The Troll Cross was carried by Scandinavian folk to ward off dark forces. Two very different traditions, one shared belief: that the right symbol, worn close to the body, can shield you from what you can't see.

Handcrafted to order in small batches in my home studio. Available in sterling silver, white bronze, copper, or brass.

Which protection symbol speaks to you, Helm of Awe or Troll Cross? ⬇️

Have you ever heard of the Wolpertinger? 🦌

Deep in the forests of Bavaria, there are stories of a creature with the body of a hare, the antlers of a deer, the wings of a pheasant, and the fangs of a predator. No two descriptions match... because no one can quite agree on what they've seen.

Locals say you can only spot one at twilight, and only if you're a little bit wild at heart.

This pendant is lost wax cast in super small batches right in my home studio. Available in sterling silver, white bronze, copper, or brass. Sometimes you might catch me showing the process behind the scenes in my stories.

What's a folklore creature that you think deserves to be worn? Tell me ⬇️

Walpurgisnacht has changed so much over the centuries.

What began as a night of caution, protection, and warding off spirits has become a celebration of spring, folklore, and community.

I love seeing how these old traditions still live on today, especially in the Harz Mountains with the costumes, parades, and eerie old magic still lingering in the air.

Have a beautiful Walpurgisnacht + Beltane. 🔥🌿✨

The first image is a screenshot from a YouTube video…please check my stories for the link!
I’m loving how much you all love my new Walpurgisnacht pendant ❤️
Five witches dance around a blazing bonfire beneath a citrine cabochon in this Walpurgisnacht pendant.

The back features a brass crescent moon, echoing the night sky of the witches’ gathering.

Walpurgisnacht, celebrated on the night of April 30, is the legendary “Night of the Witches” in German folklore, when witches were said to gather on mountaintops and dance around sacred fires to welcome the arrival of spring.
Happy washing day 🙃

A few rings I’ve worked on the last couple days…
Freya’s cats rule and dogs drool?
Or was that the other way around? 🙃
Garm barely shows up in the old Norse stories.
Still… he leaves a mark.

A chained hound at the edge of Hel.
Watching the boundary.

His howl is one of the signs the last battle is beginning.

Bavarian Folklore says that you might just cross paths with a Wolpertinger in the alpine forest.

The forest animal of all animals – a representation of all, or Urviech in German. The Wolpertinger is a rabbit with fangs, wings and antlers.

Come to my neck of the woods and you might just catch one! ❤️

He finally stepped out of the forest…

The Wolpertinger Pendant has arrived.

Inspired by old Bavarian tales of the antlered hare who moves silently through shadow and moss, this piece carries a little wild magic wherever it goes.

Strange, story-filled, and made for those who feel at home in myth and woodland twilight.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately.

If there’s one thing I would’ve done differently early on, it’s this:

I would have invested in casting equipment much sooner.

When I started out in 2011, I spent years learning as many jewelry techniques as possible.

And I don’t regret that, I loved it.

It taught me patience, problem-solving, and respect for the process.

But casting was how I first learned jewelry back in a high school metals class in 1999/2000.

If I’d trusted that foundation earlier and leaned into it, it would have saved me a lot of years of circling, experimenting, and hitting the same limits over and over.

The journey was wrong, just longer than it needed to be.

Every piece I make now carries all of that with it.

The learning, the detours, the slow build.

Just something I wanted to share, artist to artist. 🖤
This year, we’re not buying things just to keep up.

If you need the reminder:

✔️ You don’t need what’s trending
✔️ You don’t need to explain your symbols
✔️ What you choose to wear can mean something

Which one of these are you carrying into 2026? 🖤
My husband is from Bavaria (southern Germany) and I originally made this Krampus pendant for him.

The Krampusnacht traditions belong to his culture, and it was so important to me to really bring this pendant alive and make it as accurate as possible.

When I added him to my shop, I couldn’t believe how many of you loved him as much as I do!

He’s super-small lost wax cast in my home studio (only 3 at a time).
