ORIGINS...

The word Rune stems from Proto-Germanic rūnō and means “secret, whisper”. Runes were used as letters for the Germanic people.

Most Rune names derive from Proto-Germanic and reconstructed Proto-Indo-European terms and represent a letter and often a mythological or cosmological principle, such as a natural force or being.

Not much is known about the spiritual or ritualistic value of the Runes. But to the scholar of the Germanic Pantheon it becomes clear, that letters and words were far from just “letters” as we see it today. They contained “megin”, a power and force. It could heal, build or destroy. The sound of the word, or the word itself contained “megin” and was as such associated with the Rune.

Many Runes were found on archaeological finds such as the Nordendorf fibulae from Nordendorf, Bavaria, Germany and indicate spiritual value and possibly spiritual properties used for amulets or charms.

As Proto-Germanic evolved, the meanings and the Runes themselves evolved as well, new ones were created.

The origin of the Runes is still a mystery to this day. They might originate from Old Italic and Etruscan from what today is Italy. They may have developed over a long period, such as the North Etruscan and Western Germanic hypothesis suggest. They are still a mystery.

Jewelry is considered as one of the “statements” when it comes to fashion. From necklaces to rings, your style will surely give you some sparkle.

The Wicked Griffin offers a selection of eccentric rings that will catch your interest. Our Rune Ring, which is stackable and Custom Elder Futhark Rune, is an ideal gift for those who love exploring the medieval times.

You can perfectly wear these silver stackable rings on a daily basis and will go with any outfit.

Solid fine silver is used to make the Viking ring. The silver is then melted down and forged flat using a hammer. This helps in giving it an organic shape that adds to the individuality of each ring that is made. The ring band is formed in sterling silver and is topped off with a blackened finish—this kind of finish results in a rustic aesthetic.

Our rings are made to order, so rest assured that it will fit you and your taste perfectly. We create our rings depending on your ring size. It also resembles an actual stone and is made with your choice of Rune symbol.

According to the scholar of the Germanic Pantheon, the runes contain power and force. This could heal, build, or even destroy. They are also used for amulets or charms.

The origin of the runes is still a mystery until now. How about you? Which rune would you like to have?

Well Crafted

I bought 2 rune rings and wear them both on my thumb daily. Love them both very much. Made well, and came in a timely fashion.

Exactly what I wanted

Had my rings shipped to me in Australia and they arrived safely. I asked for 3 rings and they're exactly what I was hoping for. I love the organic shape & the dainty but strong band. I love the 3 together but wearing one on it's own is a nice minimal everyday look too. Thank you!

This ring is so cool. Just the right size: petite, but incredibly detailed. Alice & a hookah-smoking caterpillar! Thanks!

Bavarian Folklore says that you might just cross paths with a Wolpertinger in the alpine forest.

The forest animal of all animals – a representation of all, or Urviech in German. The Wolpertinger is a rabbit with fangs, wings and antlers.

Come to my neck of the woods and you might just catch one! ❤️

He finally stepped out of the forest…

The Wolpertinger Pendant has arrived.

Inspired by old Bavarian tales of the antlered hare who moves silently through shadow and moss, this piece carries a little wild magic wherever it goes.

Strange, story-filled, and made for those who feel at home in myth and woodland twilight.

I thought I had closed the book on the Alice in Wonderland rings…

But you kept asking for more, so here they are.

Which one is your favorite??
Can this be over now, please?
In case you forgot 💜
5,445 days in, and I’m still doing the same thing.

Taking old stories and trying to give them weight.

Some days it works.
Some days it fights back.
Either way, this is the work. 🖤

Something I’ve been thinking about lately.

If there’s one thing I would’ve done differently early on, it’s this:

I would have invested in casting equipment much sooner.

When I started out in 2011, I spent years learning as many jewelry techniques as possible.

And I don’t regret that, I loved it.

It taught me patience, problem-solving, and respect for the process.

But casting was how I first learned jewelry back in a high school metals class in 1999/2000.

If I’d trusted that foundation earlier and leaned into it, it would have saved me a lot of years of circling, experimenting, and hitting the same limits over and over.

The journey was wrong, just longer than it needed to be.

Every piece I make now carries all of that with it.

The learning, the detours, the slow build.

Just something I wanted to share, artist to artist. 🖤
This year, we’re not buying things just to keep up.

If you need the reminder:

✔️ You don’t need what’s trending
✔️ You don’t need to explain your symbols
✔️ What you choose to wear can mean something

Which one of these are you carrying into 2026? 🖤
My husband is from Bavaria (southern Germany) and I originally made this Krampus pendant for him.

The Krampusnacht traditions belong to his culture, and it was so important to me to really bring this pendant alive and make it as accurate as possible.

When I added him to my shop, I couldn’t believe how many of you loved him as much as I do!

He’s super-small lost wax cast in my home studio (only 3 at a time).
