The Othala Rune derives from Proto Germanic ōþalan, Proto Norse ōþilą and means “inheritance”.
The Othala Rune is known from 3rd Century inscriptions finds like the Vimose Comb from Denmark dating back to the Scandinavian Iron Age.
The Rune might originate from Raetian letter “o”. The Raetian people were celtic tribes from the Alps and due to their contact to the ancient Italic-Etruscan people, might have played a role in the development of the Runic alphabet.
We learn from the Anglo Saxon Rune poem that Othala is about inheritance and estate, and how much it truly means in terms of finding prosperity, wealth and freedom in life.
