Laguz is connected to Proto Norse laǥuʀ and Old English “lagu”. Laguz means “lake” or simply water.

It’s associated with water, ocean and the sea”. The Rune is mentioned in all three Rune poems. Laguz meant to be a fertility Rune according to the Bülach fibula, dating back to the 3rd Century, found in Switzerland, where laukaz might represent fertility and prosperity.

Water and the ocean itself contained power and force, called “Hafsmegin”.
