wunjo rune meaning

Wunjo stems from Proto-Indo-European wenh and means as much as “to desire, or to love”. It’s also tied to Anglo Saxon term “wynn” (meaning as much as peaceful) which later became “to win, winning”.

Wunjo as a Rune is associated with feelings of desire, lust and pleasure. From the Anglo Saxon Rune poems, the Rune means as blissful joy. It says that wunjo can make pain and suffering disappear and is thus also a protective Rune. It’s a Rune that brings well being and harmony.

The deeper meaning of the Rune is still a mystery, but it might be associated with a strive toward something and thus might very well indicate the pleasure and peacefulness of experiencing the higher realms of Yggdrasil and the happiness achieved as shown by Odin on his travels into the Underworld, where he found enlightement and ecstasy.
