Trees have always been considered a sacred element all throughout history. Carving Runes or other symbols into trees was sacred to these people. This pendant is a tribute to that time and our ancestors. A tribute to the shamans of ancient Europe.
This Runic pendant is fully hand-fabricated (not cast) in solid fine silver. Inscribed is the word WISDOM in Elder Futhark Runes.
Pendant rests on a 25 inch deer leather OR vegan friendly cotton cord.

Trees were percieved as something sacred since the Paleolithic. In fact, the world pillar or world tree that we can find in multiple mythologies – from the Germanic Yggdrasil to the Indian Ashvatta – are concepts that stem from Paleolithic and Mesolithic cultures of Eurasia, from western Europe all the way into far East Siberia, we can find myths on the sacredness of trees.
Carving Runes or symbols into trees that were declared as sacred spaces, often called “Buchenhaine” or “Eichenhaine” in German, dependong in the type of tree. The rich and lush hardwood forests of Central Europe developed more than 7 000 years ago, and thus, the Oak tree for example had a significant important to both Celtic and Germanic speaking cultures.
The very word Donnereiche, “Thors Oaktree”, stems from this important symbolism. Another etymological Aspect is the word “Buchstabe” in High German, meaning as much as “letter”, or translated into English, “beech staffs”.
It is believed that the wood and bark of the beech tree was used to carve the runes. Another important aspect is the number 9, as shown in the 9 herbs charm from early medieval scripts written in the 10th Century in Old English. 9 sacred woods are also burned during the Beltane fires. These traditions we can find in many cultures, for example, in the Funkenfeuer traditions of the Alps in southern Germany and Austria.”
